In recent years, with the rapid development of science and technology, integration and intelligence are the development trend of the automation market. As the core component of modern industrial automation, the servo motor has always attracted much attention for its technological innovation and application expansion.

Since its launch, the PMM series integrated servo motors have been widely praised for their integrated design and excellent performance. People have increasingly applied them, but along with them have also come new demands and challenges, such as multi-turn encoders, built-in brakes, STO, etc.

In order to meet the above functions and requirements, we have launched a new series - PSM series. This series of products adds STO safety function on the basis of the original integrated servo motor, and the encoder is upgraded from single turn to multi-turn. At the same time, the brake function is upgraded. The appearance remains basically unchanged, but the performance is greatly improved.

01.Integrated design

In terms of appearance, the PSM series uses the design language of the PMM series integrated servo motors, which is the integrated design we are more familiar with. It integrates the servo motor body, brake, drive, encoder, STO, I/O, etc.

The head is the servo motor body, the middle part has an optional built-in brake, the tail extends outward about 5cm, and the drive module, control module, encoder, brake resistor, STO, I/O and other modules are stuffed into this area. At the same time, the radiator is closely connected to the shell to fully ensure its heat dissipation.

Its surface adopts frosted technology and is equipped with built-in indicator lights. The upper wire clamp leads out the aviation plug-in type communication line, power line and I/O line.

The above parts together constitute the PSM series integrated servo motor. Overall, in terms of appearance, it is stable and beautiful.

 

02.Multi-turn absolute encoder

In terms of encoders, the main functions of absolute encoders are:

1.After the motor loses power, the encoder can record the position information, and the current absolute position can be known when the power is turned on.

2.The prohibited entry range can be flexibly set to allow the return to zero direction to avoid the restricted area, making control easier.

The encoder integrated inside the PSM series has been upgraded to a 17-bit multi-turn absolute encoder. Compared with a single-turn encoder, its main difference is that it can process position information of multiple turns. If you need to record position information within a range of multiple turns, a multi-turn encoder is more suitable.

 

03.STO safety function

Added STO safety function, STO is a built-in safety circuit function and is part of the overall safety system.

For example, when a machine stops suddenly, the entire electrical drive system is usually powered off to stop the motor from outputting torque. However, power failure will affect the operation of the entire system, and restarting will take time, which may also cause other unpredictable problems in the system, leading to serious consequences. The STO function allows the integrated servo motor to shut off its own torque output and stop the motor without affecting the operation of other modules in the system, greatly improving convenience and safety.

 

04.Built-in brake

Compared with the brake models of the PMM series integrated servo motors, the brakes of the PSM series adopt an embedded design, which does not require external brake cables, reduces wiring time and improves debugging efficiency.

It is equipped with gravity recognition and gravity preset functions, which can effectively prevent the load from dropping when the brake is released and the motor is started due to the load's own weight or external force.

At the same time, after multiple optimization and calibration, the brake output delay time is shorter and the load stops more accurately.

 

05.Other Features

In addition to the functions introduced above, the PSM series integrated servo motors have many other special features.

For example, it adopts space vector modulation technology, supports 16~52VDC wide voltage input, optional communication (CANopen/Modbus/EtherCAT), and optional control mode (CiA402 mode/NiMotion mode). It supports -10V~+10V analog control, I/0 control, built-in fault diagnosis, separate power supply for drive module and control module, resonance suppression/low-frequency suppression function, host computer software debugging, position recovery, firmware online upgrade, servo gain switching, etc.
